Welcome to the Western Soarers Club!

Our club is a group of enthusiastic pilots of both wing types. On almost any weekend there’ll be people flying somewhere! Flying with others teaches you more, keeps you safer and is better fun. Flying alone is potentially dangerous (and somewhat illegal) as a novice pilot.

Great things about the Western Soarers Club!

• You’ll receive emails on who’s flying where and when once logged in.
• Gaining mentoring opportunities from experienced pilots (there's a strong culture of assisting less experienced pilots). At each site, an experienced pilot will give you a site briefing before you fly. Each site is very different.
• Finding out where the flying sites are, and how to fly them safely (see above).
• Learning how to predict the weather. Pilots discuss up-coming weather in the club’s emailing list. You’ll get to know how to use the weather links (there's more than seabreeze.com.au).
• Casual coaching to advance your skills / pilot rating.
• Access to club-operated weather stations at many popular flying sites.
• Cheap access to the club's flying equipment.
• The occasional (awesome) club party.
• This club and others, under HGAWA, liaise with flying site land-holders to maintain pilot access.

Any not-so good things about the Western Soarers Club?

• As a pilot and member, the club encourages you to help us shape and grow our flying future. Our meetings are friendly, usually held in pubs, and we like to talk flying after business.
• The club has a code of conduct on flying sites (no loud swearing, throwing rubbish, that sort of thing).
• Not that you would, but it needs to be said. This helps retain flying sites, big time.
• And, $10 per year for membership.
